The saying goes: “The way to a person’s heart is through their stomach”.
Participants were encouraged to use their sense of taste and smell to explore the exhibition ‘May amnesia never kiss us on the mouth’ by Basel Abbas und Ruanne Abou-Rahme, through an invitation to prepare and cook traditional Arabic sweet dumplings.
Qatayef Delights’ is a small installation and homage to the street vendor and their carts - their mobile kitchens. The interactions around such carts are particularly suitable for entering into a dialogue with the environment. I conversed with the audience through the installation and discussed the exhibition's themes through a different emission.
A demission that pursues the intention of making the stories and experiences of the Arab and North African diaspora in Switzerland visible and deciding for themselves how they can be conveyed via an embodied experience and link to memory and migration.
